This one was fun. See, the topic of the character jam was Black Bolt, a character with whom I was not familiar. He's actually pretty interesting to me, mainly because any use of his vocal chords unleashes an energy reaction proportional to the volume. And on the low end, even a whisper is terribly destructive. So I really dig the idea of this really powerful character who is forced to remain silent in order to keep from destroying everything around him. From what I understand, Black Bolt has never been defeated. There was this one time that Thor supposedly bested him, but ol' Black Bolt never made so much as a peep, which would have easily turned the battle in his favor. A guy who will willingly lose a fight that he knows he can win just to avoid hurting a noble adversary? Come on, how can you not love that?
So as I was looking through the reference pictures, I noticed that the tuning-fork thingie on his forehead looks a bit like a goalpost from American football. From there, I pretty much just connected the mental dots until I came up with the picture below. Nothing spectacular art-wise, but it was fun to just make something where the goal was a humorous reaction rather than technical merit.
Oh, and my more "official" Black Bolt entry can be found here.
