.Brawl!.
Ah, Smash Brothers, how we love you. Not to give spoilers or anything, but this picture is based on one of my favorite team-ups in the storyline section of Smash Bros: Brawl. The cutscenes in subspace emissary portion of the game are particularly entertaining and they do an amazing job of making cute things seem badass. Like Pikachu.

I'm not a huge fan of Pokemon, but there's a cutscene in which Pikachu attacks a formidable foe (who I won't name here) and he's looking all angry with lightning crackling on him and it's pretty much awesome. And there are plenty of other chances for seemingly meek characters to really shine. It's worth a playthrough just to see, although I suppose you could probably find them on YouTube if you're lazy.

Specifically on the topic of this picture: I am proud of it. As I've said before, one of the ways to measure progress as an artist is to compare your current work with your old work. You'll draw something and you'll feel like it's the best thing you've ever done and you're not sure how you could have done it better... And later, when you look back at it, you can see the flaws that were hidden to you before. It's how you know you're making progress. So even though the more talented artists out there will see plenty of weak spots and chuckle at my saying this, I feel confident in saying for the moment that this is probably my most solid work to date.

I look forward to the day, hopefully not too far in the future, when I'll re-read this page and chuckle at myself.
