.Shark.
This idea just kinda came to me one day when I was sitting around trying to think of something new to draw. I wanted to do a mermaid picture, but I didn't want her to look like all of the other pansy goldfish-looking mermaids out there. I wanted her to be more... dangerous. So I decided to make a shark mermaid, 'cause I don't think I've ever seen that before. Anyway, the diver guy was supposed to have a look of terror on his face due to the impending danger, but somehow I just couldn't get him to cooperate. I guess there are more terrifying ways to die. I mean, if you've gotta go...
This picture was never intended to be risque, and it didn't seem to be... until I started coloring it. See, when I originally colored it, the mermaid was human-colored. And even though she lacks certain parts of the female human anatomy (being that her reproductive organs are like that of a shark, there would be no need for nursing her young...) it just seemed like too much fleshtone showing. To remedy the problem, I tried having some shark-colored stripes over some of her upper torso. But that didn't look right either. So I finally settled on giving her blue skin. I guess blue skin somehow makes partial nudity acceptable, similar to the way changing the blood color from red to green on Turok 2 made the game less violent.
Anyway, I'm happy with the way this picture turned out, mainly because it isn't really like anything I've ever done before. I don't have a name for this shark-girl yet, but I'm sure this won't be her last appearance.
