Artemius Hodgetobbin is the ace fighter pilot most directly responsible for the victory of the Free Alliance over The Coven in the Battle of 603. Though exact records were not kept, it is rumored that fully half of all downed Coven fighters were by his hands.

Adding to Hodgetobbin's mystique is the monocle worn over his right eye. The pilot has never himself confirmed the purpose of the device, but rumors run the gamut. Some say the monocle magnifies his vision and that it is the key to his piloting skills. Others claim the eye is actually blind and that he wears the monocle simply to unnerve folk. Still others insist that the eye possesses supernatural powers gained through some dark pact which supplied his extraordinary abilities.
