This is the reason I haven't had any new art to upload lately. I've been busy making this model for my 3D Modeling and Animation class. I had procrastinated for a few weeks (as usual) and ended up making this in three days and finished it less than three hours before the deadline. I'm sure three days would seem like plenty of time to an experienced modeler but this is my first model so I'm still kinda slow, I guess.

In our class, we were each given a toy and told to make a 3D model of it. The spaceship here is the "Hammeron" ship from an animated series called Xyber 9. I've never seen it, but I hear that the cartoon actually uses 3D models for all of the ships. Despite that fact, I was unable to find any pictures of it online, so I just had to use the toy as my only reference.

The model was made in Lightwave 6.5 on my two-and-a-half-year-old Pentium III 450. (Still a good machine after all this time, too.) The background is a picture of Mars that I found at... um... dang, I can't find the link. (whoops.) Anyway, I'm sure I'll have more 3D pictures on my site in the future, but I don't really feel they belong in my regular gallery, so they'll probably sit here in the miscellaneous section until I feel I've got enough to make a 3D gallery worthwhile.
